Healing Through Art
“I never imagined I would have breast cancer. After my diagnosis, I decided to go ahead with reconstruction, to put it simply, because I wanted to continue to have breasts.”
After her diagnosis, Laurel made the decision to undergo a double mastectomy. What followed has been a journey of healing, self-reflection – and art.
She documented each stage of her reconstruction through a powerful series of self-portraits, pairing them with quotes that resonated deeply along the way.
We’re honored to share the artwork Laurel has allowed us to post here. As she continues to heal, she hopes to offer support to other women walking a similar path. 🩷
