Occupational Therapy at Plastic + Hand
In many cases, surgery is just the start of recovery, and intensive rehabilitation may be necessary to increase hand strength and function. That’s why Plastic + Hand includes occupational therapists as important members of our team providing treatment for patients with hand injuries.
Hand therapy is as important as your surgery. How hard you work in rehabilitating your hand makes the difference in getting a good outcome after surgery.
Hand therapy may include the following:
- Exercises for the hand
- Heat therapy
- Massage therapy
- Splinting
- Traction
- Bandages to help control swelling
- Nerve stimulation
It is important to follow all of the instructions given to you after hand surgery by your surgeon and therapist.
Schedule time to talk with us
Each and every patient is unique. It’s important to us that we listen to our patients from the outset, so a consultation with our Patient Care Coordinator is the first step.
