Patient Story: Hannah
“I’ve always had big boobs, even in high school, but they never felt perky or cute,” says Hannah.
After two kids – and three miscarriages – her body changed. Her breasts had grown and shrunk over and over again.
“My fertility journey was over, and it was time to give myself the boobs of my dreams,” she says.
That brought her to Plastic + Hand Surgical Associates in Portland, Maine.
She wanted to look like herself again.
Hannah had always been a full D cup. But after pregnancies, her breasts lost their shape.
“I had to wear those molded bras, and when I’d bend over, there’d be gaps across the top,” she says. “I just wanted to look like I did before kids – but even better.”
At Plastic + Hand, she found the expertise she was looking for. All the surgeons are board-certified in plastic surgery, and she chose Kelli Hickle, MD, because of her fellowship training in breast surgery.
Together, they decided on a breast lift (mastopexy) with breast implants (augmentation) to restore volume and shape.

Hannah remembers feeling most excited during the pre-op markings.
“My weight had fluctuated so much, so I had all this stretched-out skin,” she says. “When I saw where Dr. Hickle marked for the top of the implant – and where my new nipples would be (two inches higher!), I knew it would be amazing.”
Surgery and recovery were smooth.
“When we took off the tape, I was blown away,” she says. “I didn’t think I had large nipples before, but they looked so much smaller, completely different – and incredible.”
A new chapter begins.
Hannah is looking forward to summer in a whole new way.
“I’ve never been able to go braless – not even in high school,” she says. “I wasn’t the girl who could grab a cute halter top off the sale rack. But now, that’s me!”
She couldn’t be happier with the results.
“In my wildest dreams, I never thought I’d have perky boobs that rest up here,” she says. “I’ve wanted this since high school – and I’m so glad I finally did it.”
