Surgery and Therapy of the Hand
Reconstructive and emergency hand surgery procedures are performed by our surgeons to improve hand function. Hand surgery procedures include treatment of traumatic and post-injury problems, arthritis and congenital abnormalities. All of our surgeons are trained in microscopic surgery, which makes possible the repair of small nerves and blood vessels in the hand.
Hand problems treated at Plastic & Hand Surgical Associates include:
- congenital abnormalities
- arthritis
- burns
- carpal tunnel syndrome
- nerve injuries
- overuse syndrome
- pain problems
- brachial plexus injuries
- Dupuytren's contracture
- traumatic injuries
- work-related injuries
Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release
The small incisions made possible by the use of the endoscope are beneficial to patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. Endoscopic surgery helps relieve the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome by releasing the transverse carpal ligament that runs across the wrist. Pressure on the median nerve, which carries sensation to and from the fingers and powers the movement of the thumb, is then released.
Two staff hand therapists are an integral part of the team that provides treatment for patients with hand injuries. The patient is an important participant in the process of successful hand therapy.
